Subaru of America Inc, together with Subaru Rally Team USA technical partner Vermont SportsCar has announced a new partnership with Valvoline^TM for the Subaru factory rally and rallycross teams in the USA. Valvoline^TM will become the official oil and lubricants technical partner of Subaru Rally Team USA which has teams competing in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) and the American Rally Association Championship (ARA).
Valvoline^TM — a leading supplier of premium branded lubricants and automotive services — has a legendary history in racing and racing culture. The brand celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2016, lubricated the winner of America’s first auto race in 1895, introduced Valvoline High Performance Racing Motor Oil in 1965 and continues to be involved in numerous high-performance series world-wide.
“We are excited to work with Valvoline and what attracted us to this partnership is Valvoline’s technical prowess and eagerness to help our teams find performance gains on the track,” explained Rob Weir, motorsports marketing manager at Subaru of America. “Our engineering team at Vermont SportsCar is already working with Valvoline and we are looking forward to a fruitful relationship. Valvoline will be a valuable asset to our program and a key part of our success.”
Subaru Rally Team USA’s rallycross efforts are led by GRC star Patrik Sandell and former Subaru World Rally Team driver Chris Atkinson. The two drivers will compete in the 2017 Red Bull GRC at the wheel of their Vermont SportsCar-prepared 2017 Subaru WRX STI GRC Supercars. Meanwhile, the stage-rally side of the team will again be spearheaded by defending eight-time Rally America champion David Higgins and former four-time Rally America Champion Travis Pastrana. Higgins and Pastrana will compete in the newly formed 2017 American Rally Association (ARA) National Championship behind the wheel of 2017 WRX STI rally cars.
Upcoming events include Higgins and Pastrana at the Olympus Rally May 13-14 and Sandell and Atkinson at GRC Memphis this weekend, April 28-29. GRC Memphis will air on NBC on Sunday April 30^th at 1:00pm EST.
