Ojibwe Forests Rally, the third round of the 2020 ARA National Championship, kicks off this Friday in the dense forests of northern Minnesota. The Ojibwe stages feature narrow and twisty roads with corners that tighten suddenly; these deceptive, technical stages make it one of the most challenging rallies on the calendar and demand maximum concentration from both drivers and co-drivers.

Travis Pastrana will debut a brand-new WRX STI VT20r chassis at Ojibwe after an engine fire in Ohio damaged his previous shell. He will be joined in the new #199 by co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino. A well-known figure in American rallying, Gelsomino has plenty of experience at this event including multiple class wins and an overall podium in 2015. This weekend also represents Brandon Semenuk’s second outing in the #180 WRX STI alongside co-driver John Hall, and the Canadian duo’s confidence level and familiarity with the car are growing. Semenuk notched his first U.S. podium and overall stage win at last month’s Southern Ohio Forest Rally and will look for more pace in Minnesota.

With championship leader Barry McKenna on the board with two event wins through the five-round season, both Pastrana and Semenuk are under pressure to score maximum championship points this weekend. Be sure to catch our coverage on Subaru Motorsports USA social media channels all weekend long.

QUOTES FROM THE DRIVERS
Travis Pastrana #199 Subaru WRX STI:

It was a rough start to the year last time out, but amazing effort by the team to build a car from the ground up before Ojibwe. We’ve all dealt with a lot of changes this year, but finally we’re back at an event that I know well and have won in the past. We’ll be pushing from stage one this weekend, looking for a strong showing to kickstart our season!

Brandon Semenuk #180 Subaru WRX STI:
Stoked to get through Ohio and gain that first event experience. I’m feeling more confident with the car and hoping to carry the momentum into the next round. Ojibwe 2015 was my first time racing in the USA and actually, the first time meeting Travis! I remember the roads being awesome as well. They’re twisty, but they can be driven fast if you commit to the grip of the soft road surface, so I’m looking to improve on my results from last time out and hopefully get higher up on the podium.
