2021 Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb Preview

Date: Aug 13-15, 2021
Location: Mt. Washington, NH

After a four-year wait, the epic Mt. Washington Hillclimb returns next week! Subaru Motorsports USA will bring its biggest weapon—the Airslayer STI, Travis Pastrana’s 862-horsepower Gymkhana 2020 WRX STI—for an all-out attack on the narrow, steep and visually stunning Mt. Washington Auto Road. The event runs August 13-15, with spectator tickets for practice days and Sunday’s race day still available.

Travis Pastrana on the Mt. Washington Hillclimb:
“Really looking forward to running the Airslayer STI up Mt. Washington this year. This event is what the car was built for! Hopefully I can improve on my previous record time and take the win this year, but whatever happens, it’s going to be an epic run. Big horsepower, high downforce, unpredictable weather and an amazing road!”

A fixture of the New England rally and hillclimb community, the race up Mt. Washington is the oldest automotive hillclimb in North America and dates back to 1904. The 7.6-mile Auto Road combines a mostly paved surface with one substantial dirt section, and the upper half of the road emerges from the treeline to reveal terrifying drop-offs along the edges of the road. The target for the Airslayer STI will be breaking Pastrana’s standing record from 2017 of 5 minutes and 44 seconds—although the infamous Mt. Washington weather can always become a factor.
