American Rallycross Driver Conner Martell Announces 2018 Competition Schedule

February 1, 2018, Colchester, Vermont – Burgeoning American rallycross driver Conner Martell has announced today his plans to move to international competition in 2018.  Martell will compete in the highly anticipated 2018 RallyX on Ice winter series in Scandinavia before starting a full-time campaign in the six-event RX2 International Series which runs in support of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX).  Martell will be supported by Sweden based Team Faren as well as the USA based Vermont SportsCar team.

The jump to international competition was a calculated move for Martell after two successful years competing in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) Lites series, where he proved himself to be one of the series top drivers.  In the past two GRC seasons Martell has earned five victories, nine podiums and 18 heat wins while fighting for the GRC Lites Driver’s Championship.

Martell’s Team Faren run car is a 310bhp, mid-engined, four-wheel drive rallycross car known as a Supercar Lites.  The RX2 series, which features strictly these controlled vehicles of identical specification, is designed to provide an affordable platform to showcase the talent of emerging young drivers. Martell will battle a strong entry list of internationally recognized drivers from a variety of race disciplines at the RX2 on Ice rounds, including IndyCar champion Josef Newgarden and triple Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves announcing their entries.

“The competition in the World RX and RallyX On Ice is going to be insane ! There are some really good drivers here which is exciting as it’s only going to make me a better driver. I’m excited for the challenge and looking forward to this next step in my driving career.”

Martell’s RallyX on Ice campaign will be extremely compact, with four events in just five weekends. The series begins in Sweden with rounds in Östersund on February 3rd, followed by Höljes on February 10th, and then concludes with two Norwegian rounds at Ål on February 24th and Gol on March 3rd.

The RX2 International series then begins in earnest this spring and will see Martell travel to race venues throughout Europe.  Martell’s American fans will have a chance to watch him at his veritable home-event in Trois-Rivières, Canada on August 4-5, located just a few hours north of Martell’s home in Colchester, Vermont.
To follow Martell’s progress fans can watch a Live-Stream of the first RallyX on Ice round Saturday Feb 3rd from 7am-9am ET on motorsport.tv.  Additionally, Martell’s social media accounts will feature event updates, photos and videos:
