Vermont SportsCar prepared two identical 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally cars for the Red Bull. New Year. No Limits event in late 2009. As a technical partner on the stunt, which saw Travis Pastrana jump 269 ft over water and land on a floating barge, Vermont SportsCar prepared the Subaru jump car and its sister spare car and conducted extensive testing over the two months leading up to the New Year’s eve jump. The car utilized for the stunt is a modified version of Vermont SportsCar’s VT9r spec rally car that Travis Pastrana campaigned in the Rally America National Championship.

Aside from the standard VT9r rally car modifications, the jump car featured provisions for weight ballast to aid in the flight characteristics while airborne, as well as engine modifications to increase power and response.
