Conner Martell Earns Dominant ARX2 Debut Win at Circuit of the Americas

Colchester, Vermont – July 18th, 2018: American rallycross driver Conner Martell won the inaugural ARX2 event at Circuit of the Americas this weekend with a dominant comeback performance. The 21-year old Vermont native, driving in his first ARX2 race, battled through the pack on several occasions to impress the crowds in attendance at Circuit of The Americas. Martell then dominated the Final, leading from the start and never looking back to earn victory.

“It’s awesome to win the first ARX2 round, I’m really excited and I’m just praying that I can do the rest of the ARX2 season because I’m full time with RX2 this year and I’m hoping that we can get enough money together to do the rest of the ARX2 series,” explained Martell. “This means a lot, it’s awesome coming to the first round of a series and racing against everyone I used to race against, going out and winning – that always feels great. Nobody else will ever be able to say they won the first ARX2 event. The DirtFish team did an amazing job this weekend and I’m really hoping I can continue so I can go for the Championship.”

A mechanical problem with his clutch saw Martell miss his Q2 race completely, but Martell turned things around in Q3 and Q4 showing the fastest lap-times and finishing with dominiting leads.

Martell got off to a blistering start in the Final with the holeshot by over one car length into the first turn. He then put down a flawless drive, pulling away from the chasing field and winning the race by over 6 seconds.

“That Black Rifle Coffee, Dirtfish ARX2 car was on fire this weekend. We had some bad luck early on, but these guys are the best team in the paddock; I’ve never been with a better team and I can’t thank them enough. They do so much hard work to keep the car consistent”

Martell heads next to Trois-Rivieres, Canada August 4-5 for a double header round of the 2018 ARX2 International Series and round five of the 2018 RX2 International Series.
