American rallycross driver Conner Martell made an impressive start to his 2018 rallycross campaign with a hard fought 6th overall finish at the opening round of the 2018 RallyX on Ice series in Östersund, Sweden.

Martell fought a stacked entry list of 21 drivers in the headlining Supercar Lites class at the first round of the Scandinavia-based RallyX on Ice series. The 20-year old Colchester, Vermont native finished an impressive second in the critical Semi-Final to earn a coveted starting spot in the Final. During the chaotic opening lap of the Final Martell took damage to his car as he was unable to avoid contact with another competitor in front of him and settled for a 6th overall finish.

“I was very excited that I was able to make it to the final with such a stacked group of talented racers,” explained Martell. “The level of competition is really high and just making it to the Final is an accomplishment, so I’m really happy with how it went overall. We made a lot of progress with the car setup and it was great working with Team Faren, so now I am really looking forward to the rest of the year together.”

Martell recently announced his shift to international competition after spending his first two seasons competing in rallycross in the USA. Martell will compete in the highly anticipated 2018 RallyX on Ice winter series in Scandinavia before starting a full-time campaign in the six-event RX2 International Series which runs in support of the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX). Martell will be supported by Sweden based Team Faren as well as the USA based Vermont SportsCar team.
