Piloting his 2011 Subaru WRX STI rally car, Higgins crushed the time set by Frank Sprongl by more than 30-seconds with an official time of 6 minutes and 11.54 seconds. David Higgins made an impressive debut in his first RallyCross competition this past weekend with a 2nd Overall finish at 3rd round of the Global RallyCross Championship held at Pikes Peak International Raceway near Colorado Springs.
Subaru Rally Team USA has announced today the entry of team driver David Higgins for the final round the Global Rallycross Championship as well as the famed Mt. Washington Hillclimb this month. The multi-time British and American Rally Champion will drive the team’s latest specification 2011 Subaru WRX STI rallycross car at the third and final round of the Global Rallycross Championship June 17-18 at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado Springs. The following weekend, June 24-26, Higgins will travel to New Hampshire to compete in the legendary Mt. Washington Hillclimb in a Subaru STI built to the event’s Open Class regulations.
David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew have won the Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR), round five of the 2011 Rally America National Championship, by a mere 1.3 seconds over rival Antoine L’Estage. Higgins and L’Estage battled back and forth throughout the event with Higgins staging a late rally comeback that saw him take the rally lead on the penultimate stage after overcoming a thirty-seven second deficit midway through the final day of action.
