Pastrana and Semenuk Set for a Sprint at Oregon Trail Rally
May 14, 2024 – Extreme sports legend and Subaru Motorsports USA driver Travis Pastrana and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino will run alongside teammates Brandon Semenuk and Keaton Williams at this year’s Oregon Trail Rally, May 17-19. The second event of the ARA calendar’s Pacific Northwest swing, the Oregon Trail Rally comes after a first-place finish at the Olympus Rally for Semenuk and Williams.
Pastrana bowed out of the Olympus Rally to take time at home and heal from a recent knee replacement. “Time at home was good for me, and Oregon Trail is a rally I know well. Happy to get back in the car!” Co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino matched Pastrana’s enthusiasm: “Looking forward to my 10th Oregon Trail Rally next week! It’s always a fun event with lots of spectators and some of the fastest stages in the USA!”
Appropriately for an event known for its speed, the Oregon Trail Rally will begin at Portland International Raceway (PIR). “Oregon Trail is the fastest rally of the season,” says Keaton Williams. “PIR is a great way to kick off and I can’t wait to see all the fans down the pit straight!” Driver Brandon Semenuk adds: “While Oregon Trail may not be hailed as the most technically demanding event of the season, its high-speed stages and mix of surfaces add a unique dimension to the rally, demanding respect from competitors.”
The Oregon Trail Rally is among the more exciting events on the ARA schedule, with one of the only full-tarmac stages in the Championship in the Maryhill Loops Road hillclimb, and a mix of dirt, gravel, and tarmac surfaces in other stages. The Boyd Jump, a feature of the Boyd Loop stage, is a favorite of spectators and photographers alike as cars can often exceed distances of 100 feet through the air.
The 2024 Oregon Trail Rally takes place over three days rather than the standard two-day ARA events, but blink and you can miss the high-speed action.
